In conjunction with the Pennsylvania Region 13 Task Force and Pittsburgh Regional Business Coalition for Homeland Security, you are invited to participate in the Bomb Making Materials Awareness Program (BMAP), a new and innovative program sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office for Bombing Prevention (OBP).
Designed to increase private sector awareness of activities associated with bomb-making, including the manufacture of homemade explosives (HMEs), BMAP provides audience-appropriate awareness information on suspicious behavior, hazardous materials, precursor chemicals, and other bomb-making related information. It is communicated as part of DHS’s TRIPwire and National IED Prevention and Awareness Campaign and was developed in cooperation with the FBI.
Each participant will receive a packet and binder. The packet consists of 10 copies of posters, awareness cards and guides which can be used to spread awareness of HME precursor materials and establish rapport between law enforcement and their constituents. The binder contains additional program materials and a disc with all the materials from the packet and binder embedded to aid the participant in developing a “Train the Trainer” program should they desire. The Office for Bombing Prevention will provide all briefing slides and presentation videos to any participant who presents an unformatted thumb drive in order to assist in facilitating a desired “Train the Trainer” program.
The training will be held in the Situation Room of the Allegheny County Emergency Operations Center, 400 N. Lexington St., Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15208 from 8 AM to 4 PM on 27 Sep 2011. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. To be one of the 75 participants, register by contacting Kasey Betush with your name, organization, and e-mail contact information.
